Commodity Derivatives Trader – Energy (Diesel & Refined Products)
Forest City Structured Products (FCSP) | Portland, OR [or Hybrid / Remote]

About FCSP
Forest City Structured Products is the derivatives and risk solutions arm of Forest City Trading Group (FCTG), one of North America's largest wood products trading companies, with approximately $4 billion in annual revenue across 14 business units. FCSP designs and trades customized hedging solutions, including swaps, options, and structured averaging products, for customers across the building materials supply chain.

We're a small, fast-moving team with the balance sheet and market access of a large trading group behind us. We're now expanding into energy, and we're looking for a trader to build and lead our diesel and refined products derivatives business.

The Role
This is a build-it opportunity. You'll develop an energy derivatives book from the ground up. You'll hedge diesel exposure across FCTG's operations and structure hedging programs for customers and counterparties who face fuel price risk, including carriers, fleets, distributors, and industrial users. You'll have real ownership of the book, direct access to leadership, and a team that moves quickly from idea to execution.

What You'll Do
  • Build and manage a book of ULSD/heating oil futures, swaps, and options, including Asian-style average-price structures.
  • Originate and structure customized hedging solutions for customers, and grow a book of business in the West and beyond.
  • Manage basis risk between West Coast and Gulf Coast markets and NYMEX benchmarks.
  • Price, execute, and risk-manage transactions within established limits, working with credit, legal, and operations under our ISDA/CSA framework.
  • Monitor refined products fundamentals and communicate market views to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Help shape the systems, processes, and controls that support the energy business as it scales.
What You Bring
  • 5+ years trading, structuring, or hedging energy derivatives: refined products, crude, natural gas, or power. Strong derivatives candidates from gas or power backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
  • Hands-on experience with futures, OTC swaps, and options, including pricing and risk management of averaging structures.
  • Familiarity with ISDA documentation, collateral and credit terms, and CFTC regulatory requirements.
  • A commercial, entrepreneurial mindset. You want to build something, not just run an existing book.
  • Strong quantitative and Excel skills; ETRM/CTRM experience is a plus.
  • Existing customer or counterparty relationships in the energy space are a strong plus.
Why FCSP
  • A true build opportunity with meaningful ownership and upside.
  • A lean, talented team where good ideas move quickly.
  • The stability, credit strength, and market reach of a ~$4B trading organization.
  • Competitive base salary plus performance-based bonus tied to the book you build.

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 07/31/2029
Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
